One of the latest projects of Frits Popma is to ripen tropical fruits (except for bananas but studies will be done soon)in a way that taste, color and shelflife are guaranteed but most important improved.

One way to counteract this tastelessness in tropical fruits is applying ethylene grains. Ethylene grains, with controlled amount of grains, induce ripening for one single piece of fruit or even for the whole 20 pallets in a container. Also, ethylene grains are environment -friendly and easy to use, for you do not need of gas bottles or valves in undergoing the process.
